Bristol800 Book of Walks
A book of walks exploring Bristol’s history and life in the city today was published as part of the Bristol800 programme with a limited print-run of 1,000 copies.
The books were distributed free of charge by partners in the programme, including Bristol Cathedral, Bristol Library Service, M Shed and the Society of Merchant Venturers; they were available from the Tourist Information Centre on Harbourside; and were given to those who attended the Festival of Ideas conference The Future of University/ Cultural Partnerships.
On Sunday 16 October 2016, some of the first copies delivered by the printers were given to participants in a guided walk of Bristol led by Kathy McDermott, Reader Development Librarian, Bristol Central Library, who took the photo above. She said:
‘I am sure they will go quickly as they are really beautifully produced, as well as being a great walking guide.’
The book’s cover artwork was specially commissioned from local artist Alys Jones.
