Dr Chris Colvin is a Reader in Economic History in the Department of Economics at Queen’s University Belfast, where he is also Co-Director of the university’s Centre for Economic History.
He strives to combine economics and history to better understand the performance of firms, industries, economies and societies. He is active in the field of applied history, which is an explicit attempt to illuminate current challenges and choices by analysing historical precedents and analogues. He leads a teaching and learning project which has the objective of re-inserting the study of economic history into the mainstream of university economics curricula.
