Novel Writers

The Festival of Ideas' Novel Writers series invited debut novelists to read from and talk about their work in an informal setting.

Topics of discussion included theme, structure, inspiration and the craft of writing. These sessions were a great way to discover new writing talent and great books.

Speakers included: Oyinkan Braithwaite talking about My Sister, The Serial Killer; Diane Cook talking about The New Wilderness; Nathan Filer talking about The Shock of the Fall; Amy Mason talking about The Other Ada; Sarah Perry talking about After Me Comes the Flood; Azareen Van der Vliet Oloomi talking about Call Me Zebra; Michael Donkor talking about Hold; and Zoe Gilbert (pictured above, photo by Jane Faram) talking about Folk. The series was developed in association with Spike Island.
